Spring 2025 | The Ledger

President – CHRIS BOURQUE

Spring is always an exciting time for Ledgewood and its residents! The air is filled with the smell of fresh mulch, homes are getting refreshed, and soon the pool will be open for another fun season. We have a full year of events and projects ahead, many of which you'll read more about in the newsletter below.

First, I’d like to extend a warm welcome to our new board members for 2025:

  • Karyn Wheeler – Clubhouse Trustee

  • Melissa Mimbs – Architectural Review Trustee

  • Tracy Koenig-  Pool Trustee

Returning to serve another term are:

  • Ken Tocco – Common Grounds Trustee

  • Ryan Metz – Vice President

  • And myself, Chris Bourque, serving as President.

Together, we’re committed to continuing the great work that keeps Ledgewood the best neighborhood in Strongsville.

This year, we’re also discussing the possibility of creating a new position: Social Committee Chairperson. This role would focus on organizing fun neighborhood events like picnics, bingo nights, and other activities that help us all connect and strengthen the sense of community we value so much.

Additionally, we have three board members who will be reaching their term limits at the end of this year, and we’re actively seeking volunteers to step in. Now, I know what you're thinking: “I just don’t have the time.” As a father of two little girls with a job that involves regular travel, I get it. But I promise—it’s manageable, and the board is flexible and respectful of everyone’s schedules.

Here’s to another fantastic year in Ledgewood!

POOL – TRACY KOENIG

It is almost pool season, the best time of the year!! My name is Tracy Koenig and I am very excited to be your 2025 Ledgewood Pool Trustee. My husband and I moved into Ledgewood in September of 2021. The pool is our favorite place to be in the summer. If you frequent the pool, there’s a good chance we have met! When you arrive at the pool this year, you will find a brand-new diving board and 45 new lounge chairs.  The remainder of the lounge chairs will be replaced next season.  The pool rules have been updated, and you will find those posted on new signs at the pool, along with the signs that remind guests that no glass, including swim goggles, is allowed on the pool deck.

Ledgewood Pool opening day is Saturday, May 24th.

The season will run through Labor Day, September 1st.

Summer hours for Ledgewood Pool are:

Monday-Friday - 12:00-8:00pm

Saturday-Sunday - 12:00-8:00pm

As we prepare for the opening of our pool season, here are a few reminders:

All residents must check in at the front desk upon arrival - If you are not yet registered in our pool check-in system, please bring your ID and a utility bill for proof of Ledgewood residency for your initial check-in.

Every household is given 30 guest passes to use during the summer. RESIDENTS MUST BE PRESENT WHEN GUESTS ARE CHECKING IN. Extra guest passes are available for purchase. Guest passes are electronically accounted for in our check-in system.

Ledgewood Pool is a family-friendly environment. ABSOLUTELY NO FOUL, OFFENSIVE LANGUAGE WILL BE TOLERATED. The use of such language will result in immediate removal from the pool. This includes residents and guests.

Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult, over the age of 18.

Absolutely no glass of any kind is allowed on the pool deck at any time.

CLUBHOUSE – KARYN WHEELER

The Clubhouse painting is complete. We are now eagerly awaiting the installation of the window treatments. If you are interested in renting the Clubhouse, please email Karyn Wheeler at Reservations@theledgewoodassociation.com.

Our summer calendar is filling up quickly with graduation parties, weddings, showers, and birthday celebrations. If you are considering hosting an event, now is the perfect time to book your reservation!

As a reminder, please do not hang any decorations on the walls, lights or accordian doors as we want to preserve their condition. Additionally, remember that glass is not allowed in the pool area for safety reasons. Also, the resident hosting the event must be present for the entire duration of the event.

Thank you for your cooperation!

COMMON GROUNDS – KEN TOCCO

From the Tennis Courts to the Playground to walking trails to wooded areas preserved in their natural state, everyone living in Ledgewood comes in contact everyday with something that falls under the purview of Common Grounds.  As the Common Ground Trustee, I’m responsible for maintaining and improving those areas, managing relationships with our landscape and tree maintenance vendors as well as several departments of Strongsville’s administration.  Our excellent Maintenance Team of Eric and Brian are essential contributors that do a great job of handling a high percentage of that work.  Thank them for all they do the next time you see them!

Here are a few of the highlights from the past year.

  • The clubhouse was repainted and multiple repairs were done (Eric & Brian).

  • The final phase of the retaining wall project on the hill above the pool was complete (Eric & Brian).

  • Street signs were repainted (Eric & Brian).

  • Our creek is a tributary of the Rocky River.  We participated in an erosion control project with the Cuyahoga Soil & Water Conservation District.  They supplied the trees along the creek, we planted, watered and maintained them.

  • Easements were inspected, upgraded as needed and dead and damaged trees were removed.

This year will be another in our ongoing effort of continual improvement.  You’ll see further landscape upgrades, the fireplugs will be painted and a smaller, second phase erosion control effort will take place on the hill above the pool.  It will be a busy and productive year as we all work together to keep Ledgewood a great place to live.

ARCHTECTURAL REVIEW – MELISSA MIMBS

With Spring officially here we are gearing up for our annual Architectural Review Community Walkthrough. For those new to the neighborhood, this is a time when the Architectural Committee walks through the neighborhood to ensure that the properties are being maintained, according to our Bylaws, to continue to showcase the beauty that is Ledgewood. The walkthroughs will begin towards the beginning of June in order to give everyone time to finalize their spring cleaning and any repairs needed.  Residents have found it helpful in the past to know what the Committee is looking for, so we have provided a list below:

If you need additional time to finalize repairs/projects, or have any further questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to the Architectural Committee at architectural@theledgewoodassociation.com to let us know.  You can also view our Bylaws, Covenant and Restrictions by going to our website:  https://theledgewoodassociation.com/covenants-and-restrictions .  Article VI Protective Covenants will provide more information for compliance in our HOA.
