The trees are blooming, the birds are singing, the allergies are in full swing. The summer can’t come soon enough. In this ledger, we would like to feature Architectural Walkthrough procedures, Pool updates, and new Clubhouse procedures. This issue is jam-packed, so we hope you enjoy reading.

POOL

Greetings from your Ledgewood Pool Trustee, Holly Zadony!

April is coming to a close and the swim season is upon us. Dig your beach towels out of the closet, find your goggles, and stock up on sunscreen! It’s the most wonderful time of the year!!

We are thrilled to introduce our new Pool Manager AND Swim Coach, Ryley Mayberry.

“Hi everyone! My name is Ryley Mayberry and I am thrilled to be the new Ledgewood Pool Manager this summer! I am a Junior at the Ohio State University, studying Clinical Psychology. I have been working at Ledgewood Pool for the past 5 summers as a lifeguard so I hope this will be a smooth transition for everyone! I am also the head coach for the Westledge Barracudas! Ledgewood has always held a special place in my heart because my siblings and I have worked here for several years and have created bonds with many of the Ledgewood families. I look forward to a great summer!”

Ledgewood Pool will open for operation on Saturday, May 27th at noon.

The summer pool hours are as follows:

  • Monday-Friday - 12:00pm-8:00pm

  • Saturday-Sunday - 12:00pm-8:00pm

IMPORTANT: NEW CHECK-IN SYSTEM

We are introducing a new, upgraded check-in system at the pool this summer. Every household that plans to use the pool this summer will need to bring proof of residency for their initial set up in our check-in system. To avoid and lessen the likelihood of random visitors pretending to be residents, we are requiring photographs of all residents over the age of five. We are offering three dates to come down to the clubhouse prior to the pool opening to set up your household in our new system.

The dates and times are -

  • May 13th - Noon-3:00pm

  • May 18th - 6:00pm-8:00pm

  • May 19th - 6:00pm-8:00pm

Please bring proof of residency (utility bill, drivers license, etc.) and all members of your household (over the age of 5) for login photos. You will also have a chance to enter your name into a cake raffle. One random name will be drawn at the end of the day on May 19th, and our own HOA president, Zarina Melik-Stepanova will create you her delicious Zari’s Cake!

If you do not have a chance to stop down on any of these three dates, you will have your photograph taken and you will need to bring proof of residency at your first visit to Ledgewood Pool. It is very important that the resident information is accurate within this new system. We appreciate your cooperation and patience as we set up this new and improved check-in software.

Imagine having extremely fond memories of your summers as a child, and then being able to reproduce that exact same fun for your own kids. That is exactly what Danylo Zadony has been doing for about the last 8 years. Danylo’s family moved to Ledgewood in the early 1980s before Danylo was born. Ledgewood Pool has been a staple in his life ever since he was a young child. It is where he learned to swim, spent countless hours hanging out with neighborhood friends, worked his first job as a lifeguard, and grew to love Ledgewood Swim Team. A summer day in Ledgewood consisted of swim practice, bike rides with friends, spending afternoon hours at the pool, and evening swim meets. Over the years, so many friendships and wonderful memories were made. So much so, that he and his wife wanted to establish their family in Ledgewood and give their children similar childhood experiences.

About 8 years ago, Danylo became the president of Ledgewood Swim Team. At that time, the swim team was dwindling in numbers and the enthusiasm of the team was not there. That wasn’t the Ledgewood Swim Team that Danylo had grown up with! He stepped in and tried to bring back the “old swim team feel” for the neighborhood. Since he has taken on the role as president, Ledgewood swim team numbers have drastically increased, there is so much more enthusiasm among the young swimmers on the team, and the positive, fun swim team vibes of the past are back! Swim team traditions continue - such as the surprise wake up breakfast, 4th of July Liberty scavenger hunt bike ride, 4th of July pool party, team pasta dinner, and team banquet.

Last year, the Ledgewood Swim team had over 40 kids on the team. Combined with Westwood Farms to make the WestLedge Barracudas, the team placed third at the Strongsville Swim League Champs Meet. Yes, there is a competitive side to the team - but most importantly, Ledgewood Swim Team is about our neighborhood kids being active, getting exercise, and forming friendships and memories that will last forever. Today, all three of Danylo’s children swim on the team and look forward to it every year! His parents still live in Ledgewood and they now get to experience their grandchildren on the team, as they once did with their own children. We are truly lucky to live in a development with one of the only Olympic sized pools in the area - and we are truly lucky to have a swim team president who cares enough to give back to the community that gave so much to him as a child. Thank you, Danylo!

And here is the message from Danylo about our wonderful swim team:

“Hello Swim Team Families! We are wrapping up sign-ups for the 2023 swim team season. The final day to register for the team is Friday May 12th. To register, visit our team site at: www.westledgesc.com and click the large red 2023 Online Signup Form link on the home screen. While on our site, you can also view our event schedule, which can be found on the left column.

Please encourage any new families in our community to participate as we see new kids around Ledgewood all the time. We believe that making new friends and having fun is most important.

While this is not an introductory “learn to swim” program, we welcome young swimmers to give it a try as we do have kids of varying skill levels participating. We are looking forward to a fantastic summer! We're excited to bring back coach Ryley and the rest of her staff from last season! Ryley brought forth so many new ideas, competitiveness, fun and enhanced communication that 2023 is really going to be a terrific season.

Please feel free to come to us with any questions and concerns you may have. Thanks as always for participating in our great team!
