We have begun the clubhouse renovation. It should be done in about six weeks depending on vendors meeting delivery deadlines for cabinets, appliances, etc. Our contractors would appreciate not having “tourists” wandering through the site. We would like to avoid fencing and the extreme security we had to put in place for the pool renovation. If you just can’t wait to see the finished product, there is a requirements document posted on the front window of the clubhouse describing the scope of the renovation and the logic behind many of the decisions. Wander down in the evening when no one is working. Upon completion of this project, we will have an open house for all to come and see the new facility available to you.
Part of the renovation will allow smaller groups to have meetings in the clubhouse in addition to upgrading the facility for more formal affairs. Your association board feels that since the residents are paying for the upkeep of the facility through the annual assessment, and we want to afford everyone the opportunity to get their money’s worth, a new rental fee structure is being implemented. John Rady is analyzing the costs and will have more to say before the clubhouse is available to rent again. The basic approach is to cover the direct costs (cleaning, life guards, etc.). The security deposit will still be required and refunded.
As usual, there are a number of people who have not paid their assessment yet. The count stands at 24. We have a zero tolerance policy on uncollected revenue. We have begun the process of putting liens on the respective properties. This is a time consuming and expensive process which the association should not have to bear the burden for. Not paying your bill just costs you more money in the long run.

Summers in Northeast Ohio are notoriously short. One of the outstanding benefits of living in Ledgewood is the recently upgraded and renovated neighborhood swimming pool (and soon to be completed clubhouse)!
Pool Hours: This year, we expect the pool to open on Saturday, May 26. Once school summer recess begins, our normal pool hours will be 12 noon to 8 p.m. every day weather permitting. Until school ends, the pool will be open from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on school days.
Pool Manager: We are very pleased to announce that Curt Harler has accepted the position of Pool Manager for this swim season. Curt is a long-time resident of Ledgewood and has held numerous positions including past president of the Ledgewood board. Thanks in advance to Curt for his leadership at the pool this summer.
Pool ID’s: If you do not have a pool photo ID to enter the pool, you can obtain an ID by having your picture taken at the pool any time the pool is open. Bring with you a photo ID and proof of residency (e.g. utility bill). Only children seven years of age and older will require identification as a resident or a guest pass. If you send your children to the pool with a nanny or babysitter, the nanny or babysitter will not require a guest pass if their primary purpose is to supervise children at the pool during the absence of the parent/resident.
Guest Passes & Guest Admittance Procedures: Thirty free guest passes will be issued to every property owner. An additional set of thirty guest passes will be available from the Pool Manager or the guard staff for $50. Guest passes will remain at the pool and be maintained by the pool staff. Ledgewood residents should accompany their guests to the pool and sign them in. If the Ledgewood resident is not present, guests must sign in at the front desk and provide proof that the resident is aware that they are using their guest pass (e.g. written authorization with a phone number). Before entry, the pool staff will contact the resident to verify their authorization. Unaccompanied guests will not be permitted to enter the pool without the resident’s verbal permission. Unauthorized guests create a major security concern for our kids at the pool. Thanks for your cooperation.
Campfire Pit: The campfire pit behind the pool is available for members to use. If guests are going to swim, guest passes must be used. The member must be present when using the campfire pit. Anyone interested in using the pit must reserve it through the Pool Manager.
Swim Lessons: Swim lessons will be conducted this year for all age groups. Anyone interested should contact Debbie Harler, 440/212-1609 or 440/238-6339 or in person at the pool.
Lifeguards & Lifeguards in Training – Wanted: Anyone interested in working at the pool this summer on a full or part-time basis can apply by sending their qualifications to curtharler@adelphia.net. Curt will set up interview dates in April to interview all applicants. Interested applicants should be at least 15 years of age with a lifeguard certification and all required First Aid and CPR certifications or the intention of becoming a certified lifeguard this summer (e.g. enrolled in a lifeguard certification and first aid classes). All candidates who are hired will be required to perform various pool related activities as well as lifeguard specific duties. However, only certified lifeguards will be permitted to ‘guard’ the pool. Lifeguards-in-training will perform other pool-related activities while learning lifeguard skills. Starting salary is $6.85 per hour.

Results of Ledgewood Survey March 2007- Rick Berger - Communications
In January 2007 a survey was distributed to all Ledgewood households in The Ledger. (The survey is also available online at http://www.ledgewoodassociation.com/Jan2007Survey.pdf). We have received 28 (out of 521 possible) responses to the survey, and appreciate those who took the time to give us feedback (though it was only 5% of the residents took the opportunity to respond).
The first section of the survey was regarding Ledgewood social events, and whether and what kind of social events would be supported by residents.
Are you interested at all in attending potential Ledgewood Community Social Events? 79% YES
Did you attend the “Meet Your Neighbor Wine and Cheese Party?” 54% YES
Did you attend the “Happy Days Sock Hop?” 25% YES
Would you attend any of the following theme parties at the Ledgewood Clubhouse if they were offered?
New Year’s Eve party: 46% YES
Wine & Cheese Party: 82% YES
Dance party: 46% YES
Pajama party: 0%
Halloween costume party: 46% YES
Are you aware that Ledgewood has a website (www.LedgewoodAssociation.com)? 82% YES
Do you ever look at the Ledgewood website? 50% YES
Are you satisfied with the job performance of the Ledgewood Trustees? 82% YES
One respondent had the following specific question: ”Perhaps you could prepare some type of report as to when Strongsville intends to do something significant about the deteriorating condition of the streets in Ledgewood…”
We have just received an answer to this question from City Councilman Michael Daymut that the following Ledgewood streets are slated for repair this coming season: Ridge Creek, Woodleaf, The Bluffs, Moss Pont, Cliffside, Falling Leaves, River Moss, Ridge Cliff, Sunridge, Woodbriar, Ridge Point, Moss Ridge, Suncliff Place, Hollow Run Place, Ledgepoint Place, Trailside Place, Hillcliff, Glen Creek, Ledgeside, and Woodside Court. It is our understanding that the repairs will be concrete, not asphalt.
Royalton Rd. Fire Station
Thank you to the homeowner’s of Ledgewood who attended the council meeting Monday, March 19th in support of keeping the fire station on Royalton Rd. open. As plans stand now the Royalton Fire Station will be closed when the Ward 4 fire station opens in late 2007 or early 2008. Those of you who did not attend this meeting may not be aware of this situation. The facts are that when the Royalton station closes the response time by Fire & Rescue squads to Ledgewood will double. A meeting with Councilmen Daymut and DeMio is scheduled for May 15th at 7:30 PM at the clubhouse. Come with suggestions for how resources can be found to keep the Royalton station open.
