If you were confused by the last May 2009 edition of the Ledger that you received, well, so were we! I apologize for the mixup. Many social event dates and reports were errors, so please retain the pool rules and toss out or delete the rest of that version as we try to get it right this time.
As you will read below, there is a lot of action taking place in Ledgewood between the pool opening, start of Swim Team season, NEW yoga classes, clubhouse lobby remodel nearing completion, numerous social events are in various stages of planning, and tennis nets up and courts are open for play. The freshly mulched beds and neatly mowed lawns by #1 Landscaping are big improvements over the grayness of the past season. If you take a walk to the playground area, you will often see residents and their families playing basketball or tennis, enjoying the playground or working in their garden plot. I marvel at this change compared to 5-10 years ago when that area was rarely used by anyone. Nine families are planting fruits, vegetables and flowers in the Ledgewood community garden. Thank you to Eunice Snellman for facilitating watering of the garden this season.
Options are being explored by Trustees Dick Lowrie and Mariette Herold to preserve and repair the path between Falling Leaves and the playground. Tennis court fencing will soon be repaired from tree-inflicted damage. Negotiations are underway with the city law department to sort out the "mess" related to property lines and our request for compensation for damage to the Omni tennis court surface. Trustees and tennis players alike are anxious to resolve this matter and have the courts replaced.
Thank you for your efforts to "spring clean" your lawn and home landscape. It no doubt requires the collective efforts of all residents to keep Ledgewood beautiful and safe. Given the current real estate climate, maintaining the natural, well-kept look of Ledgewood is as important as ever to maintain our property values. Please remember to contact Trustee Marion Tomasko in advance of any structural changes such as fences or additions so necessary approvals are completed.
Lastly, don't forget to use the Ledgewood website to stay abreast of new neighborhood events, access clubhouse availability calendars, review association covenants and restrictions (when necessary) and find staff and trustee contact information. I hope to see (or meet) you at the annual Meet Your Neighbor Wine and Cheese party on June 12th at the Clubhouse.

Helping others - 2009 Swim Team | Neighborhood food drive
The Ledgewood Swim Team and a group of neighbors are holding a food drive to benefit the Strongsville Emergency Food Bank and the SCAN Hunger Center Pantry, which serves families in Strongsville and five other local communities, on Saturday, June 27th from 11:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. The swim team will also be collecting food at their two home swim meets on June 18th and June 23rd from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., and at the Fourth of July party from Noon to 4:00 P.M.
Through your generosity, last year's food drive was a tremendous success. The need for food has increased as the economy has worsened. The summer timing is critical because school sponsored meals are not provided. There will be multiple drop-off points on June 27th. An informational flyer will be distributed closer to the date of the food collection. If you want to donate, but are unable to drop off the food, please call the Coniam's at (440)572-4808 to arrange for a pickup at your convenience.

Clubhouse Renovations | Tricia Lance
clubhouse@theledgewoodassociation.com
The clubhouse entry renovation is nearly complete. We're hoping to have the counter top and cabinets replaced and some decorating added before the pool opens. Already finished is flooring, lighting, and paint. Every effort was made to tie in the style with the previously renovated main room and kitchen.

Pool | Mary Hastings
pool@theledgewoodassociation.com
HOURS: Opening day is scheduled for Saturday, May 23rd. The normal pool hours, after school is out, will be from 12 noon to 8 pm everyday, weather permitting. Until June 10th , the pool will open at 2:00 pm on school days.
ID’s: This year, as last, we will be updating the pictures on the computer. Every resident needs to have a photo in the computer before they are allowed to use the pool. If you are new to the development please bring proof of residency with you, so that we may update our files. If you children come to the pool with a nanny or babysitter, the nanny or babysitter will not require a guest pass if their primary purpose is to supervise the children during the absence of a parent/resident.
Guest Passes and Guest Admittance Procedures: Thirty free guest passes will be issued to each property owner. An additional set of thirty passes will be available from the Pool Manager or the guard staff for $50. Guest passes will remain at the pool and be maintained by the staff. Ledgewood residents should accompany their guest to the front desk and provide proof that the resident is aware they are using their guest pass (e.g.written authorization with a phone number). Before entry, the pool staff will contact the resident to verify authorization. Unaccompanied guests will not be permitted to enter the pool without the resident’s verbal permission. Unauthorized guests create a major security concern for our kids at the pool. Thanks for your cooperation.
Swim Lessons: Swim lessons will be conducted this year for all age groups. Anyone interested should contact the pool manager, Liz Hastings, in person at the pool or leave a message with the guards.

Swim Team – Cindy Smith
New Learn to Swim Program Getting Ready to Launch
Ledgewood Pool, in partnership with the Ledgewood Swim Team, is getting ready to bring back a learn to swim program. With a growing number of young children in the neighborhood, there has been an increasing number of families interested in our swimming program. A learn to swim program will enable children to learn basic swim strokes, eventually allowing them to join the swim team. Depending on interest level, Learn to Swim sessions will be offered during daytime and early evening hours. Registration information, cost details, and a schedule will be available soon. If you are interested and would like to be contacted when more information is available, please contact Cindy Smith at 440-572-6041, or cindygeo@roadrunner.com.
